In 2022, Robert Pattinson donned the cape and cowl to battle the Riddler and save Gotham from a catastrophic flood in “The Batman.” The film was a commercial and critical hit, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter for the Dark Knight.
Warner Bros. quickly greenlit “The Batman Part II,” confirming that Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne, with Andy Serkis returning as Alfred Pennyworth. But when can audiences expect to see this sequel?
At the 2024 ACE Superhero Comic Con, Andy Serkis provided an update on the project. While teasing the audience, Serkis quipped, “Well, there is a huge arc which you’ve got – nah, I’m not giving away anything.”
Serkis did, however, share some information regarding the film’s production timeline. “Basically, I know nothing about the movie other than that I’ve just found out that we’re probably likely to be starting filming early next year. Therefore, if you do the math, it’ll be a year and a half after that.”
Serkis also praised director Matt Reeves, saying, “I know that Matt [Reeves] is working really hard on the script. Matt Reeves being Matt Reeves, the extraordinary filmmaker that he is, I can only assume that it’s going to be another brilliant script, because I thought what he did with that first film was pretty amazing. I loved working with Rob Pattinson, and I really look forward to playing Alfred once more.”
With filming slated to begin in early 2025, fans can anticipate the sequel hitting theaters about a year and a half later, continuing the dark and thrilling saga of Gotham’s protector.
