Glen Powell Promises Epic Action Sequences in “Twisters”

Glen Powell has set the bar high for this summer’s “Twisters,” hinting at an extraordinary action sequence. The film, slated for release on July 19, features what Powell describes as “one of the most incredible action sequences of all time.”

In an interview with Fandango’s Big Ticket, Powell shared insights from filming a storm sequence that unfolds in a single continuous shot. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “We filmed that in December using a rain machine. It was one of the coldest nights I’ve ever endured, being dragged across a pool by a wire. It was the most physically demanding thing I’ve ever done.”

Co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones echoed Powell’s sentiments, fully agreeing with his assessment. Powell elaborated on the intense nature of the scene: “You’re dealing with people being sucked into a tornado, recreating the chaos of being hit by debris. You see real stuntmen getting lifted into the air, trucks moving across fields, and the sheer physicality required. As actors, you have to commit entirely; tornadoes aren’t gentle, and your performance can’t be either.”

Powell concluded by praising the entire cast for their dedication and physical commitment to the action sequences. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, “Twisters” is a follow-up to Jan de Bont’s 1996 film “Twister.” The sequel boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Kiernan Shipka, David Corenswet, Sasha Lane, Maura Tierney, Katy O’Brian, Brandon Perea, Daryl McCormack, Harry Hadden-Paton, Nik Dodani, and Tunde Adebimpe.

The new film continues the legacy started by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin, who wrote the original 1996 movie. Producers Patrick Crowley, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Steven Spielberg are also on board for this highly anticipated sequel.

Tickets for “Twisters” are now available for purchase.
