Shawn Levy Hints at Numerous Cameos in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

As the release of Deadpool & Wolverine nears, anticipation is building around which characters might make surprise appearances in the film. Director Shawn Levy has hinted that the movie will feature numerous cameos, adding an extra layer of excitement for Marvel fans.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Levy revealed that while they didn’t want the cameos to overshadow the main plot, they have been strategically included throughout the movie. “There are a lot of characters,” Levy stated, indicating that fans can expect several familiar faces.

Addressing the various rumors swirling online, Levy commented, “The internet is buzzing with speculation about the character cameos in this movie. Some of the rumors are accurate, while others are completely off the mark.”

One rumor that has particularly caught fans’ attention is the possibility of Taylor Swift making a cameo alongside Ryan Reynolds. This speculation gained traction when Reynolds, a close friend of Swift, posted a Deadpool photo on Instagram that echoed the cover of Swift’s Evermore album.

Confirmed appearances for the film include Sabretooth, Wolverine’s formidable foe originally played by Tyler Mane in 2000’s X-Men, and Pyro, the fire-controlling mutant portrayed by Aaron Stanford in 2003’s X2: X-Men United and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. Based on scenes from the trailers, it’s also likely that characters such as Toad from X-Men and Azazel from 2011’s X-Men: First Class will appear in the film.

Additionally, a new image exclusively released by Entertainment Weekly hints at the return of Lady Deathstrike, the villain with adamantium claws who was first brought to life by Kelly Hu in X2.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26. Reflecting on his journey with the character, Reynolds shared with Entertainment Weekly that he once doubted he would return to the role following Disney’s acquisition of Fox. “I wasn’t sure if Deadpool would fit into the MCU,” he admitted.

Reynolds will be joined by Hugh Jackman, reprising his iconic role as Wolverine. The cast also includes Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox, adding to the film’s already star-studded lineup.
