‘SpongeBob’ Villain Plankton to Star in His Own Netflix Movie in 2025

Plankton, the notorious and ambitious planktonic copepod from the “SpongeBob SquarePants” series, is set to star in his own Netflix movie, slated for release in 2025. This announcement was made during Netflix’s NEXT on Netflix Animation press event.

The upcoming animated feature, directed by Dave Needham, will showcase Plankton’s world being turned on its head when his scheme for world domination fails. Plankton, known for running the Chum Bucket restaurant with his sidekick and wife, Karen, a waterproof computer, will face new challenges in this adventure.

Executive producers Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller are leading the project, with Mr. Lawrence contributing to both the story and screenplay alongside co-writers Kaz and Chris Viscardi. The voice cast includes Mr. Lawrence, Jill Talley, Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Clancy Brown, and Rodger Bumpass.

Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper is composing the music for the film, with Karyn Rachtman and Otis Ratchman serving as music supervisors. Original songs will be featured, written by Bret McKenzie, Linda Perry, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Bob Mothersbaugh.

“Plankton: The Movie” will be available on Netflix in 2025, promising fans a new and exciting look into the life of one of Bikini Bottom’s most infamous characters.
